Unicorns have fascinated cultures worldwide for millennia, appearing in various forms across different mythologies. While European tradition depicts them as pure white horses with a single horn, possessing magical powers to purify water and neutralize poison through their horns (called alicorns), Chinese mythology presents them as Qilin - creatures with dragon-like features and scales. Medieval folklore claimed that only pure maidens could capture these mystical beings, making them popular subjects in art and tapestries. The unicorn's significance is so profound that it appears in the royal coat of arms of Scotland and the United Kingdom, and its earliest known depictions date back to the ancient Indus Valley Civilization around 3000 BCE.
